چکیده

// is our hypothesis that fermentative, acetogenic, and sulfaiereductng bacteria residing in pipeline faculties can influence corrosion through the production of carbon dioxide and acetate under the prevailing anaerobic conditions. The exacerbation of carbon dioxide corrosion of carbon sleel in the presence of acetic acid is a well-known phenomenon in the oil Industry. Doth chemical compounds can be produced and consumed by microorganisms during the anaerobic biodeuradation of organic mutter—including l\ydrocarbojis. We contend that the principles governing anaerobic biodegradation activity can be extrapolaled to aboveground oil production facilities and lhal the mlcrobial diversity inherent in petroleum reservoirs largely reflects that in pipeWies.

Effect of Government Size on Environmental Pollution in Iran

Given the importance of the issue and the undeniable role of the environment in the community's life, in this research, it is attempted to test the hypothesis of the relationship between the government size and composition of government expenditure (Current and developmental) on carbon dioxide emissions in Iran during 1971-2016 based on autoregressive distributed lag approach. To better explain...

Microbial Methane Production Associated with Carbon Steel Corrosion in a Nigerian Oil Field

Microbially influenced corrosion (MIC) in oil field pipeline systems can be attributed to many different types of hydrogenotrophic microorganisms including sulfate reducers, methanogens and acetogens. Samples from a low temperature oil reservoir in Nigeria were analyzed using DNA pyrotag sequencing. The microbial community compositions of these samples revealed an abundance of anaerobic methano...

Influence of shielding gas composition on weld profile in pulsed Nd:YAG laser welding of low carbon steel

Weld area and weld depth/width ratio can be considered to be of the most important geometrical factors in pulsed laser welding. The effects of carbon dioxide and oxygen additions to the argon shielding gas on the weld properties in pulsed laser welding of low carbon steel is investigated. Presence of carbon dioxide and oxygen up to 10 and 15 percent respectively decreases the weld geometrical f...

The Ecology of Acidophilic Microorganisms in the Corroding Concrete Sewer Environment

Concrete corrosion is one of the most significant problems affecting valuable sewer infrastructure on a global scale. This problem occurs in the aerobic zone of the sewer, where a layer of surface corrosion develops on the exposed concrete and the surface pH is typically lowered from around 11-10 (pristine concrete) to pH 2-4. Acidophilic microorganisms become established as biofilms within the...

Metabolic Capability of a Predominant Halanaerobium sp. in Hydraulically Fractured Gas Wells and Its Implication in Pipeline Corrosion

Microbial activity associated with produced water from hydraulic fracturing operations can lead to gas souring and corrosion of carbon-steel equipment. We examined the microbial ecology of produced water and the prospective role of the prevalent microorganisms in corrosion in a gas production field in the Barnett Shale. The microbial community was mainly composed of halophilic, sulfidogenic bac...
